Consciousness is the foundation of exceptional interactions
When we move out of our minds and into our hearts, we can engage in deep and memorable experience. Meaningful interactions are always involved with an emotional response. We are emotional beings (very emotional beings). Hmmm… I wonder how many pages it would take me to list out every emotion I can possibly remember experiencing? I’ll spare you (and me), as I feel you get my drift.
How we tap into emotion can be boiled down to two ways: love or fear. Love is the high road working with the raw materials of kindness, honesty, fairness, peace, joy, transparency, abundance, gratitude. Fear is the low road and is anything that taps into the illusion of lack.
There are so many ways in which we can genuinely and creatively touch people’s hearts in a positive light. Emotion is the catalyst of taking an action. Working with the aspects of loving communication will always be the most potent and rewarding road.
Expansiveness is an ocean of divine inspiration
I believe that taking the time to expand one’s heart and perspective should be on the same ‘necessities list’ as sleep, eat, pee, and poop. If there was ever a time to put energy into expansion- the time is NOW! In this so-called modern world, we are being spoon-fed processed emotional food through very well thought-out and purposely ‘steering’ media and stimuli.
It is impossible to put any thought, word, image or action into the world without creating an energetic ripple. The big question is, ‘What is the intention behind it?”.
Without awareness and the sheer curiosity to expand and grow, one might as well just cozy into a sheep suit and mindlessly follow the herder. I hate to spoil the ending, however, the journey almost always halts in a predicable, fenced-in, cramped, square kinda place.
It is always my desire to remain and expand in the free thinker and ‘feeler’ that I am. If you are still reading this, I know that you also have aspirations such as these. When I bask in expansiveness, I have an infinite ocean of divine inspiration and ideas to tap into to support you in yours.
Love and kindness is the foundation of every success
“Treat others the way that you, yourself, desire to be treated”. That is one quote that will never go out of fashion!
I don’t believe that love and kindness should ever optional…for anyone or anything.
How we speak to and treat people (including via marketing) is just as important as how we treat those most beloved to us.
There are so many creative (and kind) ways to appeal to people. The way each and every one of us engages in business (whether we are the buyer or the seller) is creating the world in which we live.  Supporting positive messaging, responsible marketing, and transparent sales techniques builds a more loving world.
I feel it is so important to be genuine, aware, and make your business decisions based on your own heart, not based on what everyone else is doing. You are unique and so the way you flourish is also unique.
Understanding and visually expressing your uniqueness is absolutely my specialty.
The way in which YOU are inspired to work within the frequency of love and kindness will always be the foundation of your success. Embrace it and BE it!
Expertise is the alchemy of great ideas into incredible solutions
Expertise is probably getting close to being added to the endangered species list. 50 years ago, would anyone have ever imagined going to the same place for ice cream, a skill saw, tampons, sweatpants, a rose bush, a fishing pole, and to have your eyes examined? Just writing that sentence creates this emotional response in me, “when you are trying to do all of that, how can you be good at any of it?”.
In the design world there are similar things happening with making a one-size-fits-all homogeneous stew. If that works for you, go for it. If just the idea of dipping into that mushy casserole makes you feel a little queasy, I completely understand.
My emphasis (and interest) in expertise weaves through all of my upbringing…my dad is an optometrist and my parents have owned and successfully run a stand-alone office for almost 50 years. I learned very vividly about what expertise is and why it matters. My parents have endured the the ebb and flow of big box stores, glasses discounted online, eye exam chain stores, etc. year after year. They have always stayed ‘in their lane’ doing what they do best and continued to be abundantly successful.
My dad is very honest about what he does best and what he doesn’t. He has a network of professionals that he can reach out to for a second opinion for a difficult case, or if it is beyond his expertise, he knows exactly where to send them and has no hesitation in doing so. Taking care of his patients is his first priority… people FEEL this…and it is one of the foundations of his continued success.
As unique as optometry and graphic design are, my parent’s office is my template model for Studio Kerr.
I’ve put a whole lot of love, intention, study, time, effort and straight up trial and error into becoming really good at what I do. I am also beyond fortunate to have come in with the gifts of an artist, a designer’s eye, and a love of clear communication. The gifts led me to the profession, and the profession accentuates the gifts.
I am honest and clear on what I personally do best and what I don’t. Studio Kerr is mostly ‘me (Kirsten)’, however this is not always a one woman show. When there are parts of your project that are out of my expertise, I have a talented network of professionals that I can call on to assist. I am always your point person and I always back up the work that is delivered.
Most simply put: you and your success matter to me and it is always my intention to deliver the very best to you.
A little side read: There is a movement happening in Berlin with “hyper-specialty” retail stores opening their doors. I feel they are ahead of the curve. Will we get to see the day when expertise is again celebrated and embraced? I get excited about it…
